Milos Forman’s film adaptation of the rock musical Hair stars John Savage as Claude, a quiet young man who, on his way to the army, encounters and befriends a group of hippies. The shy Claude is deeply impressed by Berger (Treat Williams) and the group of freedom seekers living in Central Park. The group encourages Claude to court a society girl named Sheila (Beverly D’Angelo). Legendary choreographer Twyla Tharp created the dance numbers, which flow naturally from the film’s settings.
