David Lynch&#8217;s enigmatic and nightmarish masterpiece about two women&#8217;s adventures in the dream city of Los Angeles earned Lynch the award for Best Director at the Cannes Film Festival. <\/p>\n<p>The film tells the story of Betty (Naomi Watts), a young woman who dreams of a career as an actress. Betty has just moved to Los Angeles and finds a woman who has lost her memory in her aunt&#8217;s apartment. The woman, who calls herself Rita (Laura Harring), has been in an accident and made her way to a stranger&#8217;s apartment. Together, the women embark on a journey to discover Rita&#8217;s identity, while Betty tries to build a career in the city of her dreams.   <\/p>\n<p>The film began as a pilot for a television series, as Lynch hoped to repeat his success with Twin Peaks. However, the result was instead a renowned thriller drama\u2014a dreamlike, enchanting, absurd classic that defies all definitions. In 2016, Mulholland Drive was voted the best film of the century in a BBC poll.
